Christmas Soup

Ingredients

Bread from Dão

Q.B Olive oil and garlic

(Optional) paprika

6 cod steaks

1 loaf of wheat bread

2 large Portuguese cabbages

Preparation

Start by washing and cutting the cabbage into pieces. Put enough water in a pan to cook the cabbage with the cod. Meanwhile, cut the bread into pieces. When the cod is cooked, take it out and start shredding it. Then check that the cabbage is cooked. If it's cooked, add the cod and the bread, without removing the cooking water, only if it turns out to be overcooked.

Heat a generous drizzle of olive oil in a frying pan with the thinly sliced garlic and let it brown. If you like, add a little paprika to add colour to the dish.

Add this olive oil mixture to the cabbage, cod and bread. Season and serve.
